Nigerians react to 2019 JAMB cut-off mark

It was no doubt, all joy for some Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME candidates to hear the announcement of Universities cut-off-mark by the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB)

160 and above was declared the official cut-off mark for admissions in 2019, Naija News reports.

140 was approved as the cut-off mark for admission into private universities.

120 UTME score was agreed as the admission requirement into public polytechnics while 110 is the minimum for admission into private polytechnics.

While many JAMBITES seem to be happy at this news, some Nigerians have expressed concern and disappointment over JAMB’s decision, describing it as reducing the standard of education in Nigeria.

I am certain some federal universities won’t adhere to this 160 cut off mark. University of Lagos, the very first on my list….School of first choice, School of 200, School of fashion

I remember scoring 267 fifteen years ago and still couldn’t secure admission into a university that year. Standards are gradually falling like the walls of Jericho in #Nigeria. #Shame #JAMB

Nigeria be churning out mediocre graduates and it all starts from a system that has lost all value and standards. #jamb
